From Sketch to Silk: The Equestrian Scarf
The Equestrian Scarf is inspired by the richness of British wildlife, and brings together the strength of the horse, the fox camouflaged in the centre, and the vibrant flight of pheasants, robins and butterflies, woven together in a chestnut and olive autumnal colour palette. A piece inspired by Emily's childhood in the country, where she was riding from an early age, this scarf is an ode to British culture and wildlife.
Peacock butterflies feature in many of Emily's prints, and are flying alongside the birds in this design - common across the UK, these butterflies are known for their distinctive eye-spots that resemble a peacock’s tail feathers. They can live up to 11 months, spending some of that time hibernating.
Foxes can be found camouflaged in the middle of the design, and are intelligent and adaptable animals found in environments ranging from cities to the Arctic. They are solitary hunters with a complex communication system that includes over 28 different calls.
